History:

A United Brethren Church existed at this place, later to be called Booneville, in the 1850s, but did not survive for a long period of time.  Their church building came into possession of St. John's Lutheran Church, established in 1860, with Rev. Peter Gheenas the first pastor.  A graveyard was laid out behind the church, on the hill.

A tract of 66 perches was deeded to the church by D. H. Schrackand wife Mary, on 5 April 1869.  The church trustee at that time was Daniel Wolf.

The heirs of Reuben Meyersold 41 perches "to be added to the said grave yard and to be used as and for a burial ground," on 2 December 1898.

The original frame structure was removed and a brick church built in 1900.  The congregation and cemetery are both still active.
