History:

According to an article in the Renovo Record of 29 July 1960, "In the Calhoun Cemetery there are several comparatively recent graves as well as many old ones.  The ground for the burial place was given by the Calhoun family and open for the use of neighbors and friends.  There are 145 graves to be moved, among which 54 are unknown.  Ninety-eight will be placed in the New Maple Grove Cemetery and 46 at North Bend.  Among them are 42 unknown graves.  The Calhoun property on which the cemetery is found is at the end of the Leidy Bridge across Kettle Creek.  It is on this old farm that the first Leidy Gas Well was brought in starting the gas boom in what is known as 'The Leidy Field.'  Dorsey Calhoun, who is responsible for starting all the gas field activity, is the only member of the family still residing at the homestead, which has always been his family home."

The Calhoun Cemetery, on the estate of Minnie Calhoun, was relocated from July 25, 1960 to July 30, 1960.
