History:

The J. W. "Butter" Currinfamily settled at a very early date in the vicinity of Pepper Run.  J. W. was known as a Peddler of Notions in Sugar Valley, and was aged 65 on the 1870 census. They buried some children in graves on their home place, back in the mountains.  There are two unmarked stones on the site today.  The adult members of the Currin family are buried in other valley cemeteries.
